Mystic Forest 13

The digital print series “Mystic Forest” was inspired by the book “The Man Who Planted Trees a Story of Lost Groves, the Science of Trees, and a Plan to Save the Planet” by Jim Robbins. In it a northern Michigan nursery man named David Milarch, who in a near death experience, was shown the image of a devastated Earth. He was tasked with cloning the champion trees of the world - the strongest, oldest trees - and reintroducing their hardier genetics into our ailing forest as a way to combat climate change. The book made me look at trees in a new light after learning how they filter the air and water, how they communicate, why they die and the myriad of crucial ways they support life on Earth. In the imagery I want to visually express, in an abstract way, some of the magic that is a living forest with the hope of striking a chord of empathy within the viewer. There is more to a forest then meets the eye. Original prints are digitally printed using archival paper and inks in an edition of five, signed and numbered. The print is shipped in a secure tube.
