I created this image in the dead of winter in anticipation of the coming spring. When I was going through some tulip photos from a previous springtime I spotted this one. The thing that attracted me to it was it's clean simplicity. The white of the flower contrasted nicely with the dark background while the red tulip in the background added a dash of color. The underlying concept in the series was to imagine viewing a colorful garden through a series of glass lenses that altered the view in some way. I felt that a circular motif would work well with the image and went with an oval with two circles that altered the magnification within the geometrically defined areas. The result is an example of a contemporary art deco image. I like to think of the style as neo deco, techno deco or digital deco because of the technology used in it's creation.
