Garden View 13 (2020)

During the creation of this series of digital images I was playing around with the notion of creating a kind of contemporary version of Art Deco. The Art Deco movement was popular during the early years of the 20th century. I found it interesting because of it's eclectic nature. Art Deco artist and designers looked to China, Japan, India, Persia,as well as, ancient Egypt and Mayan art. The art they made had a bold look that used geometric elements, triangular shapes, zigzags, vibrant colors and stylized floral patterns. The Art Deco artist used a variety of other visual devises to create a distinctive new style. There was also an interest in the new technologies that were emerging at the time.
The imagery in this series is an attempt to bring those influences into the early part of the 21st century. Garden View 13 uses a decorative motif to visualize the colors and shapes of the spring season while exploring contemporary digital technology applications as fine art.
